Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily, even in tight spaces.

If you want an easy ride in your baby, select models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. They are, however, susceptible to punctures. Make sure you have a repair set.

Sturdy frame

Figures have just been released revealing that the three-wheeled vehicle - that noughties symbol of more money than sanity is on the verge of disappearing. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more versatile and easy to drive and look elegant.

The basic rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front enable you to move and more stable when walking downhill or in difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn as well as a 3 wheel travel stroller year old and found that it was able to withstand grass, cobbles rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it feels sturdy to push and is very stable when going over difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need occasional pumping) offer built-in suspension that was very comfortable for my children.

Another thing to consider is the size and shape. You will want it to be large enough for your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline for them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies have a full lie-flat option while others allow the parent to be facing one.

A great choice for tackling off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. The buggy can be used as a single unit from the beginning and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from age four and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat unit. Wheels with a larger diameter

Larger wheels mean your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - ideal for buggies that are off-road. Additionally, they make it easier to manoeuvre the pushchair through narrow spaces. Many three wheeled buggies feature swivel front wheels to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be pushed. This is also helpful when you crash into a tree root or stray curb, since the front wheel can be lifted up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air filled tyres which means they can handle different terrains and are much more flexible than 4-wheeler. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, so you'll need to have repair kits and an spare inner tube on hand.

Both of these buggies have larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to easily climb and descend kerbs. The buggies also have suspensions that according to Kath "smooths out bumps extremely effectively".

The downside of having larger wheels is that they can make buggies quite large and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This can be a problem if you use it as a jogger or you need to get through doorways that are narrow when on the move. Fortunately, the majority of models come with small folding options that let you take off the front wheels to create more compact storage.

Easy to maneuver

A three-wheeled buggy is more maneuverable for children. The way they are constructed means that the front wheels turn on a dime and are incredibly easy to manoeuvre and are ideal for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3 wheel buggy for sale-wheeler with her toddler. she said: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on rough terrain. The front swivel wheel was particularly useful." I was also awed by how well it coped with kerbs, especially when using the hand-operated brake. I found it extremely stable when going downhill or over uneven terrain."

The only drawback to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3-wheel buggy may make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something to keep in mind when you live in a city. If this is a concern then a 4-wheeler might be better for you.
