How to Replace an audi car keys G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located near the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the position of the camshaft, to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate a chain stretch or a jumped chain link in the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test as there are several pins on the connector, and each has its own functions. The best way to do it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. Examine for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are problems with this part.

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a significant decrease in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched in gazoline, the fourth was dry. When I start the engine, there are no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on top of each injector hole, the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. So i assume the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c even when i unplug it. Also, i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do. I think I've ruled everything else out. However, i'm afraid that I may have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find the spare in a salvage shop or parts store. Test them out to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure the resistance between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that has to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, for example. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could cause the engine shutting down.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox and a gearbox which shifts more quickly than normal, or an unfire when in the gear. If you have any of these issues it is likely that your sensor is going bad and requires replacement audi key cost uk. The good thing is that they are very affordable and easily accessible, especially if you're looking at a Bosch unit which is what ours are. Alternately, GM's version this part is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a variety of issues within your vehicle. It's an essential component of your audi smart key replacement's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is turning. If this sensor fails, it can disrupt the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor programming audi key (https://images.google.co.il) is located at the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the flow of fuel and boost and also timig. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. You can also examine the continuity between pins T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. You should see a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms in these areas. This is a common feature across the audi car key cover 80-100-200-RS2 range, beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 Du You may also find good ones in wrecking yards.
